Sesla — The Goddess

0

Dear Scifi fans,

My name is J.A. Ireland. I am a Seslean of the Miflixx-Coterie. I live in beautiful downtown Kinkorx with my family. I am a professional writer and sports commentator. I write articles for several newspapers and magazines. My office is on the 12th floor of the beautiful Grexenn Building in downtown Kinkorx. From my large, windowed, high-rise office, I enjoy a spectacular view of the morning sunrise over the multicolored desert. The view from my office desk, with my morning tea, is breathtaking. My office is near The Mesnuk Stadium Downtown. I can see the spectacular structure from my window. This is the home of the Kinkorx Horned Hares, our professional mesnuk team.

Kinkorx The Metropolis of the Seslean Desert

Kinkorx; The Metropolis of the Seslean Desert

Kinkorx is a bustling and beautiful, magical desert city. She is the delight of Xcuymir Territory. Xcuymir Territory is one of the mysterious and breathtaking territories of the desert region on Sesla.

I would like to tell you about the mystical planet; Sesla. I would also like to tell you about her beloved coteries. I will begin by sharing a secret with you. Before time was measured, when the Croster Slux Solar System formed, the Whirlpool Galaxy gave the sun the task of naming the planets. The fifth planet in the solar system balked at this absurd idea. She wanted to choose her own name. The sun, of course, did not agree. The very bold fifth planet stood her ground. Eventually, the sun conceded and gave the planet her wish. She chose the name Sesla, which means “Enchanted Planet.” It’s a charming name, don’t you think?

Sesla is a beautiful, small planet. She is the fifth planet from her sun of twelve undersized planets. These planets all know each other very well, and are close friends.

Whirlpool Galaxy

Whirlpool Galaxy

The Whirlpool Galaxy, where the Croster Slux Solar System spirals inside and Sesla spirals within it is a bright galaxy. She is much brighter than her friend the Milky Way. The Whirlpool Galaxy is 23.5 million light years away from its neighbor and close friend, the Milky Way. These two galaxies have always had a bond.  They are very good friends. The Whirlpool Galaxy is a very friendly galaxy, and it has many other friends in the vast universe as well.

Her other planetary friends in the solar system all support life. However, their planetary life is much different from the life on Sesla. Sesla’s perfect climate and terrain allows its remarkable citizens to evolve, live, and thrive.

Due to Sesla’s beloved inhabitants, her magical animals and plants, and her diverse regions, she  is a happy planet that is teaming with personality and life. On this beautiful and dreamlike planet, the coteries have evolved to be the dominate species because of their adaptability to the hot, dry climate of the deserts, as well as the cooler, damp, rainier climate of the wet lands. Most of the spectacular residents of this beautiful planet would agree, Sesla is a mystical planet with a character of her own.

Sesla is proud of her beloved coteries, her desert terrain, her seacoast, her seas, and her wet lands. Each spectacular feature on this magnificently beautiful planet has its own exceptional features and unique splendor. She is delighted by and cares immensely for her beloved inhabitants. Her many clans of citizens refer to themselves as coteries. Her beloved coteries form the attractive population of this picturesque planet.

All coteries have attractive leathery skin. Their skin has an alluring appeal. Their pleasing complexion, along with their thick, wavy, flowing hair, adds to their attractive nature.

Sesleans have two arms and hands with five fingers. They have two legs with fin like feet. They have a miniscule dorsal fin that runs down the center of their back. The fin splits at their lumbar, and continues down the back of both of their legs. It is more visible on some coteries and less on others.

They have a sharp row of bone in the entrance to their mouths. This serves them well for biting and tearing of their food, which they then swallow.

Their young hatch from eggs.

The many coteries of Sesla are, by their very nature, a very athletic race. For this reason, the global sport, mesnuk, is extremely popular. Actually, mesnuk is the only sport on Sesla. There are numerous professional mesnuk teams and stadiums positioned throughout our planet. Almost every school and town has its own mesnuk team and field.

Mesnuk is a very simple, fast-paced team sport that young coteries learn and play during childhood. Competitions begin during youth and go to the professional level. Mesnuk is simple with full contact. There are two separate seasons in the sport. The first is “The Set of Games,” followed by “It’s the Rallies.” The winner of “It’s the Rallies” is the Sesla Mesnuk Champion. In the sport, there have never been pads allowed, and there never will be; the sport is simple and brutal.

Sesla’s very proud and spectacular citizens have evolved to permit walking upright and the wearing of very fashionable clothing. They are educated at many different universities, some more prestigious than others. Some become judges and law enforcement personnel, while others choose to be astronomers, aviators, doctors, and scientists, just to name a few. Others prefer different forms of employment that allow for lesser levels of education. There is no end to the different professions on Sesla.

The clans of Sesla group into different coteries. In the desert territories, the residents are the Razion-Coterie, KyMox-Coterie, Miflixx-Coterie, and the Pirtt-Coterie. The Razions are the highest status and the tallest, while the Pirtts are the lowest status and the shortest. The others fall in between. Joyously for the Razions, they are the tallest coteries on Sesla. Unfortunately, for the Pirtts, they are the lowest, in both status and height of the coteries on Sesla.

In the desert territories, the Joxel is the financial currency.

Sesla’s desert terrain has its own unique beauty. The natural beauty of this area is picturesque. The desert offers unlimited ancient and unusual stone formations, as well as a multitude of natural desert flowers that add to the scenic beauty. The multicolored sand adds to the picturesque splendor of the vast, ancient, unchanging desert.

Sunset in Sesla Desert

Sunset in Sesla Desert

Her desert sunsets are also quite spectacular. The sky seems to light up with majestic colors as her sun sets. Due to the picturesque desert views, many artists through the centuries have taken great pleasure in painting her alluring desert landscape. The picturesque views of this magical and mystical desert are infinite.

The desert terrain also offers hills and valleys, beautifully breathtaking canyons, along with other rolling picturesque desert topography. The desert terrain is teaming with an abundance of enchanted plants and animals. Many of the captivating and mystical desert plants have beautiful, fragrant flowers.

Many of Sesla’s beloved coteries live in the desert climate. They are more comfortable in the very dry, desert climates. These inhabitants prefer living in the beautiful, scenic, desert topography with all of its spectacular colors. The alluring mystery of the ancient stone formations, along with different colored desert sand, is pleasing to them. These coteries seem to enjoy the many varieties of aromatic, flowering plant life in the desert. They seem to appreciate the absence of rain that characterizes the very hot and dry desert terrain on Sesla.

The buildings in the desert are not as impressive as the wet land buildings, but they are still very beautiful. Many desert structures are older stone and bricks structures. Many of the desert residents use adobe bricks with stucco to build their homes and structures.

The residents with more Joxels have also constructed lavish stone fronts and spectacular stone columns on their buildings.

The two largest and most majestic desert cities are Kinkorx and Wyluxx City. They are both very vibrant desert cities that offer much splendor and lifestyle opportunities for their coteries. The desert coteries that built these cities have also used advanced architecture in their designs. They built these weather resistant structures using ancient desert stones as well as adobe bricks and stucco fillers. The magnificently crafted stone columns that grace the front of many businesses in the desert cities are stunning to view. The skill that is required to create these artistic column fronts and other stonework is considerable.

The most advanced and astonishing structure in Kinkorx is The Mesnuk Stadium Downtown. With its state of the art enclosed design, it is the pride of Kinkorx. The Kinkorx Horned Hares have the pleasure of calling this incredibly designed and built mesnuk stadium their home.

Wyluxx City enjoys its own mesnuk stadium. The exciting Wyluxx City Stadium is a tribute to the ingenuity of the Wyluxx City engineers and builders. The Wyluxx City Generals enjoy calling this mesnuk stadium their home.

The desert coteries have also built many other beautiful and extraordinary homes and businesses in several other rural cities in the desert territories. The care these coteries take in their landscape work is equally inspiring. The many homes and businesses in this climate reflect this ingenuity.

The many roadside parks in the desert territories also display these talents. When driving along the many well-maintained desert roads, there are numerous lavishly designed pullovers. They are for resting, as well as enjoyable viewing and painting.

Marina at Tos-Xiron

Marina at Tos-Xiron

In the seaport territory, the residents are the Iinzler-Coteries. The Iinzlers are the native coteries of the seaport. They are the merchants and boat owners, as well as landowners. The Iinzlers mostly own and operate their charming little fishing and resort town. There are exceptions to that rule, but they are few. The Iinzlers are of reasonable status due to their business skills and average height. They tend to be very intolerant with their non-native renters and visitors. They are an impatient and unforgiving group of coteries.

In the seaport territory, both the Joxel and the Mylux are accepted currencies.

Sesla’s seacoast features a popular, quaint, fishing village named Tos-Xiron. With her beaches, waterways, and beautiful parks, it is a remarkable sight. Many of Sesla’s beloved coteries have made this seaport their home.

Tos-Xiron is the only town on Sesla’s sea and the only seaport. Each day, many coteries make their living fishing Sesla’s mysterious waters from this charming seaport.

The coteries of Tos-Xiron enjoy mesnuk at their own stadium. Jyitsen Stadium is the home of the Tos-Xiron Doxers. The Mighty Doxers have yet to win a Sesla Mesnuk Championship. Actually, they never seem to go very far in, “It’s the Rallies.”

Builders constructed Tos-Xiron on both, Sesla’s land and sea. This charming fishing village is nestled south of both the wet land territories and the desert territories. It lies on the Sesla Sea between the two contrasting areas of this inspiring and intriguing planet.

Due to Tos-Xiron’s midpoint location, it not only draws its own coteries, the Iinzlers, but others Sesleans as well. Tos-Xiron’s buildings and structures reflect the mixed cultures of the Iinzlers, as well as all of Sesla’s other coteries.

Builders constructed many charming homes and businesses using adobe bricks and finished with a stucco exterior, other structures have stone fronts. These buildings exist on the beautiful, multicolored sandy terrain.

There are also numerous homes and businesses constructed directly on the Sesla Sea. These buildings are brilliantly designed and built in a variety of ways to accommodate their watery foundations. Many of these homes float on floating supports, while others are constructed on stilts.

There is also a vast amount of boardwalks in Tos-Xiron. The numerous walkways accommodate the local residents, as well as the many tourists that wish to enjoy a day on the waterfront.

One Species of the Deadly Sea Doxer

One Species of the Deadly Sea Doxer

There is a main harbor with numerous boats docked seemingly everywhere. Residents also own many types of watercraft on other areas of Sesla’s seas, waterfronts, lakes, and streams.

Sesla’s seas are not only beautiful and mystical they are teaming with marine life. Her magical seas have a variety of native fish as well as its very own predator. The sea doxer is the unchallenged, dominating predator species that lives and thrives in Sesla’s vast oceans. The doxer has existed since the beginning of Sesla herself.

The doxer is an elongated eel-like sea creature that lays eggs to reproduce. It has two pectoral fins for steering, and a tail fin for forward motion. It also has a large webbed dorsal fin that begins at the doxer’s forehead just above its two eyes, and runs along its back, all the way to its tail fin. The dorsal fin is sharp and ridged.

The doxer has a sharp row of bone in the entrance of its powerful mouth for cutting and tearing of its food, which it swallows.

The sea doxer is equipped with two venomous weapons that quickly subdue its attacker or prey. The first is its saliva. The doxer’s salivary glands secrete a solution consisting of enzymes, mucus, protein, water, and poison when biting. The second venomous weapon is the ridged, very sharp, dorsal fin. The doxer’s dorsal fin is hollow, and serves as a series of hypodermic needles to deliver the same type of poison as found in its saliva to fight off its attacker. Once the attacker or prey is bitten, pricked, or scratched, the poison’s effects quickly result.

Reactions to the doxer’s venom may vary. If a foolish or unfortunate Seslean, or sea creature, is poisoned, sometimes the poisoning only results in a simple rash or fever, for the lucky ones. For the numerous Sesleans and sea creatures that have engaged the doxer, or have been attacked by the doxer, whether accidently, foolishly, or as prey, the resulting illness is doxer fever.

Doxer fever is widespread throughout Sesla. It sometimes causes a paralysis, but usually causes a psychosis that includes prolonged bewilderment, mania with delusions, hallucinations, incoherence, and distorted perceptions of reality. The worst cases of doxer fever exhibit these mental illnesses, as well as very alarming, frightening, and horrifying mutations. There are several mental hospitals and asylums on Sesla that attempt to treat and accommodate the worst cases of doxer fever. The prisons on Sesla are also plagued with criminals that are nothing more than doxer fever victims that turned to crime.

In the wet lands, the residents are the Qirdotz-Coterie and the Zepler-Coterie. The Qirdotzs are the more prominent and the best-educated coteries on Sesla. They are also the best athletics. With all of this going for them, over time they have adopted a very arrogant, self-righteous, and even snobby attitude. Their sharp, condescending manner makes them very difficult to associate with in social and work environments. The Zepler are the taller of the two coteries. They enjoy their own prominence as well. They are simply not equal to their wet lands neighbors, the Qirdotzs.

In the wet lands territories, the Mylux is the financial currency. Mylux are worth more than Joxels by 15 percent. At many establishments, Joxels are grudgingly accepted.

Wet Lands Waterway

Wet Lands Waterway

Sesla’s wet lands consist of picturesque hills and valleys, spectacular waterfalls, rolling countryside, abundant woodlands, farmlands, marshes, bogs, swamps, and waterways. The wet lands are teaming with enchanted plants and animals.

Sesla provides a considerable amount of rainfall for the plants and animals, as well as coteries in the wet lands.

Many of Sesla’s beloved coteries are in the wet lands. They prefer the very marshy, boggy, waterways of the wet lands. In addition, many coteries enjoy the fertile farmlands there as well. They seem to prefer the cooler, damper, rainier weather in this area. They also seem to appreciate the abundant aquatic plant life and creatures that the wet lands offer.

The Qirdotz-Coteries thrive in the wet lands, and are a very brilliant and influential clan. They are the best and brightest, and their wet lands architecture reflects it. They are the dominant species.

The Zepler-Coteries also reside in the wet lands. They are less intelligent and educated than their Qirdotzs neighbors. However, they are also part of Sesla’s upper class.

Sesla’s wet lands residents are better educated and have more prestigious occupations than the desert and seas dwellers. The area highlights these advantages. The wet lands also feature beautifully constructed cities. The Qirdotzs largely created these works of art.  The two most beautifully impressive and best-loved cities in the wet lands are Guytic City and Kvyutt. These two magnificent cities are the pride of the wet lands. Their marvelously designed buildings are simply brilliant. The creative architectural design that the Qirdotzs used to build the magnificent buildings in these two cities is incredible.

Guytic City also boasts its own very impressively designed and constructed mesnuk stadium. Qashlet Stadium is the home of the Guytic City Fighting Tobacco Farmers. Many Sesleans refer to them as simply the Tobaccos. The Tobaccos have won the Sesla Mesnuk Championship many times.

Kvyutt contains its own professional mesnuk stadium. The Kvyutt Travelers call the Kvyutt Stadium their home. The travelers do not enjoy the same success as the Sesla Champion Tobaccos or their extravagant home stadium.

The wet lands have an abundance of magnificent and creative buildings and roads. There seems to be no end to the wet lander’s design ideas in these towns and cities. The buildings and roads accommodate their unique water climate. Many of them float on the water or are on stilts above water.

There are also many other impressive cities and towns in the wet lands regions that reflect the many influences of the Qirdotz-Coterie. The other unique towns have their own special structures depending on how much water there is in their community. There seems to be no limit to what the clever and smart Sesleans of the wet lands can conceive and build.

Sesla’s roads throughout the territories are also an engineering marvel. The inhabitants of Sesla are very good at building and maintaining splendid thoroughfares.  Due to the superb road system, the most popular way for Sesleans to travel from city to city is by vehicle. Vehicles are very popular on Sesla, and their diversity is numerous.

Sesla also features a daily aircraft transport system that connects the natives of this intriguing planet. Each day, numerous cargo planes fly back and forth from city to city, carrying cargo. The trade on Sesla is extensive. The cargo planes also carry a limited number of passengers as they commute.

Maxx Zeqster's Private Detective Badge

Maxx Zeqster’s Private Detective Badge

Sesla’s territories have their own government, as well as their own laws. Each territory has their elected officials, as well as their own court system, which enforces their local  laws. Sometimes these different regional laws can cause controversy and arguments between the territories.

Sesleans engage in many different types of activities. In fact, the residents of Sesla do just about anything you can think of. They even break the territory laws.  When the local law enforcement authorities are unable to effectively deal with the local crime and criminals, the coteries of Sesla call their own private detectives. This is where my friend, Detective Maxx Zeqster, comes into play.

I have known Maxx most of my life. Like most coteries, he has endured his share of heartaches and triumphs. My novels chronicle his life and  cases. I call them, Maxx Zeqster Creepy Cases.

This blog is dedicated to making you aware of my planet and my friends. I hope you will read my articles and books, and discover our world.

Until we talk again.

Rydon’s Fall — Book Review

0

Greetings from Sesla,

It’s J.A. Ireland. It’s good to talk with you again. A lot has happened since I last wrote. Kinkorx is a bustling metropolis with a lot going on.

The Horned Hares are improving again and Maxx Zeqster has another assignment. He and his partner, Art Nekuma are working on the Maladroit Bomber case. Knowing Maxx the way I do, it won’t take them long to find the bomber.Rydon's Fall Book Cover on Kindle

I just completed my latest Maxx Zeqster Creepy Cases novel. This book is about Art’s father, Rydon Nekuma, and his plights. He was a sailor in Tos-Xiron with gambling issues. He’s in a bad place now—Dunjyn Asylum; a doxer fever victim and mutating.

I have a picture of his rented schooner on the book cover. He used it for fishing—when the weather allowed. Apparently, the frequent storms at Tos-Xiron added to his problems. Gambling didn’t help either.

If you would like to read his tragic story; my novel is available on Kindle. It’s free in the lending library. Occasionally I’ll give away downloads of my novels for a day. Watch for the specials on this blog, facebook, and twitter, then download all my novels—Free. If you take advantage of the free downloads; after reading the book, write a brief review.

I hope you’ll  read all of my novels and learn more about Sesla; my home, in the Whirlpool Galaxy. It’s nice to talk with you. Until we talk again.

May good fortune guide your path,

Star Trek – Into Darkness – Movie Review

0

Greetings movie fans from the Milky Way, it’s J.A. Ireland,

I saw another terrific movie over the space tower. The latest Star Trek movie is another masterpiece.

Jim Kirk and McCoy on Nibiru

Jim Kirk and McCoy on Nibiru

It begins on Nibiru—a class M planet. Jim Kirk and McCoy are running from the angry natives. “Kirk to Shuttle One. Spock, neutralize the volcano and let’s get out of here.”

Spock is lowered into the volcano. The cable breaks and he lands on a floating stone in the lava. The Enterprise is hiding on the ocean floor.

Spock ignites the cold fusion device to freeze the erupting volcano, thus saving a civilization, then prepares to die—due to being trapped.

The Enterprise rises up from the water, as the natives watch. Mr. Scott beams Spock aboard as the cold fusion device explodes. The lave is frozen, stopping the eruption, saving the civilization that barely discovered the wheel. Kirk violated the Prime Directive.

London 2259.55 – A Star Fleet officer’s daughter is dying. Khan tells him he can save her. Khan makes a serum to cure the dying girl.

At Star Fleet HQ. For violating the Prime Directive, Kirk is stripped of his chair. Admiral Pike is ordered to take over the Enterprise as captain. Kirk is going back to the academy.

London- The medication works. The girl is saved. Her father blows up a Star Fleet data archive as payment for the drug.

Spock is transferred to the U.S.S. Bradbury. Kirk is Pike’s First Officer. Admiral Pike convinced Admiral Marcus that Kirk deserves a second chance.

Kirk informs Spock of the demotion. “You stabbed me in the back with your report, Spock,” Kirk says while on his way to an Emergency session, Daystrom. Spock meets Frank Abbot, U.S.S. Bradbury, Captain.

Admiral Marcus addresses the Emergency session

Admiral Marcus addresses the Emergency session

Admiral Marcus addresses the Emergency session. “In London, a Star Fleet data archive was bombed. 42 men and women are dead. One hour ago, in a message from a Star Fleet officer. The officer confessed to the bombing. He was forced to do so by John Harrison, another  Star Fleet officer. John Harrison has just declared a one-man war against Star Fleet. Under no circumstance are we to allow this man to escape Federation space. The man hunt is on.”

Kirk asked, “It doesn’t seem odd to you that he’d target an archive, a library?” John Harrison bombed the archive to gather the Star Fleet officers together in that room. It was procedure.

Seconds later, Harrison attacks the officers using a hover-craft chopper. Pike is killed while Kirk disables the chopper. Harrison survives the crash and is beamed to safety.

Mr. Scott learns that Harrison used a portable transwarp beaming device. He beamed to Kronos – the Klingon homeworld. He’s taken refuge in the Ketha Province, an uninhabited region for decades.

Later, Admiral Marcus says, “London wasn’t an archive. It was a top-secret branch of Star Fleet, designated Section 31.They were developing defense technology and training our officers to gather intelligence on the Klingons and any other enemy. John Harrison was a top agent. 31 developed a new photon torpedo. Long range and untraceable. Invisible to Klingon sensors.”

Marcus orders, “Kirk, You park on the edge of the Neutral Zone, you lock onto Harrison’s position, you fire, you kill him and you haul ass.”

Kirk replies, “Permission to reinstate Mr. Spock as my First Officer.”

“Granted,” Marcus agrees.

Science Officer Wallace is assigned to the Enterprise by Admiral Marcus. Lieutenant Carol Wallace. Doctorate in applied physics, specializing in advanced weaponry.

Mr. Scott - Chief Engineering Officer

Mr. Scott – Resigns Chief Engineering Officer

On board the Enterprise, Mr. Scott refuses to sign the receipt for 72 photon torpedoes. “Not without specs,” Scotty says. “I have a warp core to prime.”

Mr. Scott refuses to sign for the torpedoes. “Star Fleet confiscated my transwarp equation. Harrison used it to hop across the galaxy.”

“Sign for the torpedoes Mr. Scott, that’s an order,” Kirk says.

“I resign my duties,” Mr. Scott replies. “Jim, for the Love of God! Do not use those torpedoes.”

Kirk promotes Mr. Chekov to Chief Engineering Officer. “Go put on a red suit.”

Mr. Chekov to Chief Engineering Officer

Mr. Chekov New Chief Engineering Officer

As they are warping to the Klingon homeworld, Spock learns of Lieutenant Wallace’s identity. She’s Admiral Marcus’ daughter.

Later, Kirk, Spock, and team are in a shuttle to the Ketha Providence. We see Praxis, the Klingon moon that exploded years ago. Mr. Spock believes he located John Harrison.

“Attention John Harrison. This is Captain Hikaru Sulu of the U.S.S. Enterprise. Surrender or be obliterated. If you test me, you will fail.”

On Kronos, the team zooms to Harrison’s location. They’re attacked by a D-4 class Klingon vessel. They land and are attacked by Klingons.

John Harrison kills all the Klingons then surrenders to Kirk.

My name is Khan!

My name is Khan!

Harrison is taken on board the Enterprise. He gives the coordinates, “23-17-46-11” to Kirk. He tells Kirk to open one of the 72 torpedoes.

Upon opening, they discover someone sleeping inside. Bones says, “The torpedo is refrofitted to hide a cryo tube. The person frozen inside is 300 years old. All 72 torpedoes have someone inside. The cryo tubes are ancient.

John Harrison says, “My name is Khan. I am genetically engineered to be superior in every way. We were exiled from Earth.”

Admiral Marcus used Khan to create weapons. He appears in a huge star ship. “I want Khan.”

Kirk orders, “Warp speed to earth.” As the Enterprise warps toward Earth, Marcus catches them and open fires. Mr. Scott is aboard Marcus’ ship. He disables the weapons.

Kirk and Khan sail through space, in suits, to Marcus’ ship. Mr. Scott opens the space hatch.

Young Spock talks to old Spock. “Khan Noonien Singh was the most dangerous adversary the Enterprise ever faced. He is brilliant and ruthless. He will not hesitate to kill your entire crew for his gain,” Old Spock says.

Young Spock asked, “Did you defeat him?”

“At Great Costs. Yes,” Old Spock replies.

Khan kills Admiral Marcus

Khan kills Admiral Marcus

On Marcus’ ship, Khan kills Admiral Marcus. He crushes his skull with his hands. Khan says to Spock, “Your crew for my crew. Spock, give me my crew. Lower your shields. I will kill you and your entire crew if you don’t give me my crew. I will turn off your life supports and step over your corpses to retrieve my crew.”

Spock lowers the shields and gives Khan all 72 torpedoes. Khan beams his sleeping crew aboard Marcus’ ship then open fires on the Enterprise.

Mr. Spock armed the torpedoes. They explode on board Khan’s ship. Spock and McCoy previously removed the sleeping people from the torpedoes. Khan’s crew was safely aboard the Enterprise. All Khan received was the empty tubes.

Due to the attack, the Enterprise is powerless and falls into Earth’s orbit. Kirk climbs into the radioactive chamber and realigns the core—restoring power. The ship is saved while Kirk dies from radiation poisoning. As Kirk dies, Spock yells, “Khan!”

Khan flees to earth. He crashes his star ship into Star Fleet headquarters.  Spock follows. He beams down to coordinates, “3517 by 2598.” Khan and Spock, the two super beings, race through the streets of San Francisco, 2259.55. They battle.

On board the Enterprise, Bones yells, “Get me a cryo tube, now!” He puts Kirk’s body in cryogenic freeze.

Khan and Spock battle in San Francisco

Khan and Spock battle in San Francisco

Spock and Uhura capture Khan and bring him back to the Enterprise.

Two weeks later, Kirk wakes in sick bay. McCoy gave him a transfusion of Khan’s super-blood. Bones synthesized a serum from Khan’s blood and brought him back from the dead. Spock, Uhura, and Bones saved Kirk’s life.

Spock put Khan back into cryogenic freeze with his crew.

Enterprise begins Five-year mission

Enterprise begins Five-year mission

The Enterprise begins a five-year mission to seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no man has gone before.
The movie ends.

This was an awesome movie. The actors gave all-star performances as always. I think it’s terrific when young Spock gets advice from old Spock.

I can see we’re not the only civilization that’s experimenting with genetic code manipulation. It appears, Khan Noonien Singh is a very dangerous result of genetic engineering on Earth.

Until we talk again,

May good fortune guide your path.

Man of Steel – Movie Review

0

Dear Marvel Comic Fans,

I have a great movie review that I watched on the space tower. I hope you like the new Superman movie as much as I did. This is a very high-tech, futuristic remake of the beginning of Superman.

The movie begins as Lara is having a baby on Krypton, the futuristic, mountainous planet. JOR-El, her husband believes Krypton’s core is collapsing.

JOR-EL talks to the Krypton Council

JOR-EL talks to the Krypton Council

Later, JOR-EL talks to the council. “I told you harvesting the core was suicide. The process of implosion has accelerated. Give me control of the Codex!”

General Zod, the military leader, disrupts the council meeting. Using weapons, he takes JOR-EL prisoner. He begins a great battle on Krypton. JOR-EL overpowers the guard and gets free. He tells Lara, “Ready the Launch!”

JOR-EL yells, “H’Raka!” The four winged, giant bug flies to his rescue. He jumps on H’Raka’s back and they fly away. JOR-EL wants to get to the Codex—it’s just beneath the central hub. As they arrive, Kelex, the communication machine warns, “Breaching the genesis chamber is a Class-B-crime.”

JOR-EL reaches the Codex. A soldier orders, “JOR-EL, by the authority of General Zod. Surrender the Codex.”  He is rescued by H’Raka—who is shot during the escape.

Upon arriving at the Citadel, he puts the Codex, a small, black skull like jewel, into the ship bound for Earth.

Kelex warns, “Five fighting ships approach.” JOR-EL uploads the Codex. The powers are transferred to the baby and the ship. As General Zod and his band of renegades attack, Lara arms the phantom drive in the escape ship that their son is in.

General Zod and Sub-commander Faora-Ul land in the Citadel. JUR-EL says, “We’ve had a boy child. Krypton’s first natural birth in centuries. He will be free!”

Zod says angrily, “Heresy!” Zod and JUR-EL fight. “Lara! The Codex is Krypton’s future. Abort the launch!” Zod yells as they fight.

As Lara launches the ship, Zod kills JUR-EL for his defiance. She says as the ship rises in the sky, “The boys name is KAL-EL.”

Zod orders, “Bring that ship down.”  As they try, Zod and his followers are captured.

LOR-EM orders, “General Zod. For the crimes of murder and high treason, the Council has sentenced you and your fellow insurgents to three hundred cycles of somatic reconditioning.”

Zod swears his vengeance, “I will find your son, Lara. I will find him! And get back the Codex.”  They are exiled in space. Soon after, Krypton explodes from the inside.

The movie switches to Earth, The Debbie Sue, a crabbing boat, is at sea. They are approaching an oil rig. The 6510 Coast Guard reports, “The rig is about to explode.”

Captain Heraldson, of the Debbie Sue replies, “What about the men inside?”

“Forget them. They’re dead,” the Coast Guard replies.  Before the rig collapses, a strange man, with super-human strength, saves the men. The stranger falls into the water. As he drifts in and out of consciousness, under the water, he remembers his past.

Clark Kent at the oil rig

The movie switches to a young Clark Kent. We see several flashbacks where he remembers discovering his powers and using them to save people. He also recalls being lectured by his father for using these powers. Jonathon, his earth father says, “You’re the answer to are we alone in the universe. You were sent here for a reason.”

Clark, the adult man, is a drifter. After destroying a semi-tractor trailer at a restaurant where he worked, he travels to the Arctic. Lois Lane, a reporter for the Daily Planet, is there for a story.

Sekowsky reports, “NASA’s EDS satellites pinged an anomaly. They have found something big, deep in the ice. Ice that is 20,000 years old. It gets 40 below here.”

Using his heat vision, Clark tunnels his way to the alien craft. Lois sees him and follows. They discover aliens are living inside the ship. As the space ship takes off, Clark helps Lois escape—while he remains on board. While onboard, Clark is unaware that a signal from the ship reaches General Zod.

Later, Lois is at the Daily Planet. She writes the article stating that what she saw wasn’t from earth. Perry, her editor, refuses to print the story. Out of desperation, she leaks the story to Woodburn—who puts it on the internet.

Clark is still on the ship. He meets, JOR-EL, his father’s consciousness. “Your name is KAL-EL. You came from Krypton,” his father informs him. He explains the history of Krypton. How the people expanded into the universe. General Zod, their military leader, attempted a coup. The genesis chamber was used to create children on Krypton. You are Krypton’s first natural birth in centuries. The “S” is the symbol of the house of El—It means hope.”

KAL-El puts on the flying suit. As he remains on Earth, and absorbs the radiation from the sun, he grows stronger. He quickly learns to fly.

Lois Lane becomes an investigating reporter and learns his story. They meet at Jonathon’s grave, his earth father. He remembers his father dying in a tornado.

At NORAD/US NORTH COM, Command Center, Hamilton reports to General Swanwick, “A ship has inserted itself into a lunar synchronous orbit.”

General Zod is commanding the ship. Zod speaks over every communication device on Earth, “To KAL-EL. Surrender within 24 hours or watch this world suffer the consequences.”

The FBI quickly apprehends Lois Lane. The media asks, “Who is KAL-EL?”

After hearing the message, Clark remembers his father saying, “When you are ready, you will change the world.” Later, he surrenders.

Clark is turned over to Zod. Sub-commander Faora-Ul takes KAL-EL and Lois Lane aboard Zod’s ship. Clark gives Lois his Krypton key. Zod plans to kill all humans and start a new Krypton civilization on Earth. He wants the Codex. The genetic template for every being yet to be born is encoded in the registry of citizens. KAL-EL’s father stole the registry’s Codex.

Lois puts the key into a machine. Clark’s father appears, his consciousness. They devise a plan to put Zod and his army back into the Phantom Zone. “Remember, the phantom drives are essential in stopping them,” JOR-EL says to Lois.  He says to his son, “You can save Lois. You can save all of them. KAL-EL.”

The Super Battle on Earth begins.

Zod’s officer reports, “The Codex is embedded  in KAL-EL’s body. All of Krypton is embedded in his cells. KAL-EL doesn’t need to be alive to extract the Codex.”

“Release the World engines,” Zod orders. As the World engines land on earth, Zod orders, “Bring the phantom drives on line.”

“They are turning Earth into Krypton,” General Swanwick says. Lois brings KAL-El’s space ship to Swanwick. Clark says, “My ship is powered by a phantom drive. It bends space. Zod’s ship uses the same technology. If we can make the two collide with each other. A singularity can be created. A black hole. Zod and his soldiers should be sucked in.”

The 17,000 pound ship/bomb is loaded onboard a C-17 bomber. Before long, the C-17 Guardian, is loaded and on route to Metropolis. While Zod secures the genesis chamber.

A World engine is destroying Metropolis. Superman, as the media has named him, destroys that World engine. Soon, Superman also destroys the main ship.

On a suicide mission, the C-17 is flown into another World engine. Zod and his crew are sucked into the explosion. They are instantly gone. Metropolis is in ruins.

As Superman and Lois Lane kiss, somehow Zod appears. He and KAL-El continue to battle in the large downtown city—in a Super Battle! Soon, out of desperation, KAL-EL breaks Zod’s neck—thus killing him.

Daily Planet

Later Clark Kent begins working at the Daily Planet as a reporter. The movie ends.

This is a tremendous movie. It is truly wonderful. The special effects are futuristic and out of this world. Even though it’s technically a remake, the story is so different that it’s a completely new movie. This is one of the most enjoyable and exciting movies I’ve seen in a while.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my review of Man of Steel. Until we talk again.

May good fortune guide your path,

SHREK – Movie Review

0

Dear friends,

Recently I watched a very funny movie with Shrek and Donkey. Here’s my review.

Shrek - the Ogre

Shrek – the Ogre

The movie begins with, “Once upon a time there was a Lovely Princess. But she had an enchantment upon her of a fearful sort. Which could only be broken by love’s first kiss. She was locked away in a castle, guarded by a terrible fire-breathing dragon. Many brave knights had attempted to free her from this dreadful prison. But none prevailed. She waited in the Dragon’s keep. In the highest room of the tallest tower, for her true love and true love’s first kiss.”

Shrek, the ogre, is cleaning in the swamp where he lives.  The towns people are coming after him. Lord Farquaad has ordered all Fairy Tale Characters to be arrested.

The talking donkey is almost arrested. He meets Shrek. Shrek allows him to stay in the swamp for one night. Donkey says, “In the mornin’ I’m makin’ waffles.”

Lord Farquaad evicted the fairy tale creatures from their homes. They are all hiding in Shrek’s swamp.

Shrek and Donkey travel to Farquaad’s kingdom. He wants the evictions lifted so the characters can go back to their homes.

The magic mirror tells Farquaad he needs to marry Fiona if he is to be King of DuLac. She is a prisoner of the dragon. He is having a tournament to choose a winner to rescue Fiona from the dragon.

Lord Farquaad and the Magic Mirror

Shrek and Donkey arrive at DuLoc and enter the contest. In an easy victory, they defeat all of the solders—pro wrestling style. Farquaad sends Shrek to kill the dragon and rescue Fiona.

He and donkey agree to get his swamp back. They leave for the dragon’s castle.

Upon arrival at the castle, they cross a robe bridge. It suspends over a moat of fiery lava.

Donkey finds the dragon. Shrek grabs its tail. The dragon flings him through Fiona’s roof. He lands in her room.

As the dragon is about to eat donkey, Donkey starts complimenting the dragon. She falls in love with him.

Shrek rescues donkey and Fiona. They escape. As they travel back to DuLoc, Fiona insists on hiding each night.

Later at DuLoc, Farquaad and Fiona are being married. Shrek and Donkey ride the dragon to the wedding. During the wedding, at sunset, Fiona turns into an ogre.

Fiona says, “When I was a little girl, a witch casts a spell on me. Every night, I turn into an ogre.”  “By night one way, by day another. This shall be the norm until you find true Love’s first kiss. and then take Love’s true form.”

Farquaad orders her locked in the tower forever. Donkey and dragon enter the room. The dragon eats Farquaad.

Shrek kisses Fiona. The spell is broken. Fiona changes into an ogre permanently. They marry in the swamp and leave for their honeymoon.

The movie ends.

This is a wonderfully funny movie. A pleasure to watch.

May good fortune guide your path.
